Are you an experienced senior or middle leader who wants to make a substantial and lasting difference to the life chances of young people? Are you well-organised and calm, with an ability to bring out the best in a team? Do you enjoy building relationships and developing a healthy school culture? Do you have a track record of success? Do you have an excellent understanding of SEND, are a qualified SENCO or somebody who is in the process of training? If so, please consider applying for the role of SENCO at Bedminster Down School.

Our previous SENCO has moved to a whole trust role so we're looking to recruit a new member of our senior leadership team. As a school, we want our SENCO to be a visible leadership presence, ensuring that we do the best for the young people in our care, and advocating for their needs. We want somebody who can work with teachers to develop their adaptive teaching and with leaders to ensure that the curriculum is fully inclusive. Of course, we also want a SENCO who is well-versed in our statutory duties, understands how to make the best of school systems and can form strong links with the local authority and other external services.

Bedminster Down is a school with community at its heart. Our staff team is supportive and caring, and we have strong wellbeing provision. We are lucky to have a fantastic team of well-qualified TAs and HLTAs and all these positions are currently full. You will have the full support of the senior leadership team and the support of trust colleagues, and we benefit from an inclusive, joined-up approach to pastoral care. Behaviour in the school is good with a strong Ready to Learn system in operation. Our SEND team are actively involved in its implementation and fine-tuning. In short, we're keen to recruit somebody with an appropriate range of skills but also with a positive mindset and can-do attitude.

In return we offer:

  •  A competitive salary
  •  A full and varied CPD programme offering teaching and leadership development for our staff
  •  An opportunity to work in a supportive team from whom you can learn, develop and grow
  •  Wider opportunities to be involved across the Futura Learning Partnership
  •  An energised and professional working environment
  •  Benefits include; pension scheme, discounted sports centre/gym membership, free wellbeing support & medical cover, free on-site parking and cycle to work scheme.
