PSHE Teacher

Job Ref: R064 Please quote on all correspondence

Start: September 2023

Salary: MPR1 – UPR3

Location: Bedminster Down School (near Bristol)

Contract: Full time

Term: Permanent

Bedminster Down School is looking for an excellent teacher to join the school as a PSHE teacher team on a full time basis. The school prides itself on our high quality PSHE curriculum and we are looking for an enthusiastic and engaging teacher, with a passion for ensuring every young person has an equal opportunity to develop the skills and knowledge they need to thrive now and in the future. As a PSHE teacher you will teach our students to deal with critical issues they face every day such as friendships, emotional wellbeing and change. You will also give them a solid foundation for whatever challenging opportunities lie ahead, so they can face a world full of uncertainty with hope and resilience.

Our PSHE curriculum covers all of the essential areas of sex and relationships education, but also extends far beyond this to cover fundamental British values and a wide range other national and local topics that affect young people, their families and their communities. We can deliver such a strong and broad PSHE curriculum because we invest quality curriculum time, and quality teachers, to deliver PSHE every year. All students, from year 7 to year 11, receive a weekly hour of PSHE teaching from one of our small team of experienced and committed PSHE teachers, all of whom have taught PSHE at the school for a number of years. In joining that team, you will teach across the ability range, delivering PSHE lessons to students in all year groups.

At Bedminster Down School, we operate a ‘Ready to Learn’ behaviour system in the school and classroom behaviour is truly exceptional. Our consistent approach to behaviour management across the school ensures that any low-level disruption is dealt with rapidly and effectively. Our senior and pastoral teams manage the rare incidents of highly challenging behaviour and permanently staff the behaviour support rooms. This means that, as a teacher at Bedminster Down School, you have the ability to spend your work time on planning and delivering lessons which will maximize engagement and progress, as well as providing high quality feedback to your students.

In return we offer:

  • A competitive salary
  • A full and varied CPD programme offering teaching and leadership development for our staff
  • An opportunity to work in a supportive team from whom you can learn, develop and grow
  • Wider opportunities to be involved across the Futura Learning Partnership
  • An energised and professional working environment

Benefits include; pension scheme, discounted sports centre/gym membership, free wellbeing support & medical cover, free on-site parking and cycle to work scheme.

We are keen to ensure that you have as much information to proceed with your application as possible, so if you would like a conversation about either the academy or the position please contact Dan Goater (Assistant Principal)
