Contracted Hrs: 26.25 per week (LSA); 2.5 per week (MDS)

Working Wks: Term Time + Inset Days, 39 wks (LSA)

  Term Time Only, 38 wks (MDS)

Grade: Grade 5, Pts 7 to 8 (LSA); Grade 4, Pts 5 to 6 (MDS)

Salary: £12,807 to £13,041 per annum (LSA); £1,167 to £1,178 per annum (MDS)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 1:1 SEN Learning Support Assistant to join Ratby Primary School on a fixed term basis until the end of the 2023/24 academic year. The successful candidate will work within our Key Stage 1 team and will also be required to do lunchtime cover for 30 minutes per day during term time.

The 1:1 SEN Learning Support Assistant is responsible for supporting a child with Muscular Dystrophy and specific learning needs and following a timetable of individualised provisions and engaging in any training required to facilitate this. We are looking to appoint an individual with a passion and commitment to supporting the needs of our children, and for someone who has the ability to liaise with parents and other educational professionals e.g. Occupational Therapists and Speech and Language Therapists.

This role is a rewarding one with a successful candidate having the opportunity to gain more experience in the classroom and work with experienced and established staff in Key Stage 1.


The ideal candidate will have:

• NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in supporting teaching and learning

• Experience of supporting teaching and learning in an educational setting

• Experience of supporting SEN in an educational setting is desirable

• Knowledge of various health or SEND conditions and needs, e.g. autism, ADHD, diabetes etc.

• Good literacy and numeracy skills
