Bricknell Primary School is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, highly motivated and hard-working Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team within the ASD Resource Base — a Local Authority provision supporting pupils with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a caring, inclusive, and forward-thinking school community committed to providing exceptional education and support to children with complex needs. The successful candidate will be based in our ASD Resource Base, supporting pupils to access a personalised curriculum and, where appropriate, facilitating their successful integration into mainstream classrooms.

Salary: Grade 4, Point 5 £24,790 - Point 7 £25,584 pro rata for 32.50 hours per week, Monday to Friday, term time only (38 weeks per year).

Our ASD Resource Base plays a vital role in enabling children with autism to thrive in a nurturing environment, while also supporting their access to wider school life. This dual approach requires flexibility, creativity, and a strong commitment to inclusive practice.

We are looking for a team player who is passionate, resilient, and confident in working with children with significant additional needs. A sound understanding of SEN, including delivering EHCP provision, is essential.

The successful candidate will:

• Support pupils with ASD and a range of complex needs within the Resource Base and during integration into mainstream classrooms;

• Work collaboratively with class teachers and specialist professionals to deliver personalised learning activities that promote independence and inclusion;

• Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils, parents/carers and colleagues;

• Provide appropriate emotional and physical support to children, helping them to feel safe, understood, and valued;

• Use a range of communication strategies such as visual supports, Makaton and PECS to support children’s understanding and expression;

• Promote positive behaviour through consistent and proactive support strategies aligned with individual needs;

• Assist with the development and implementation of EHCPs and other individual support plans, and contribute to regular reviews;

• Support learning through structured activities, play, and child-led exploration, both indoors and outdoors;

• Provide clear feedback to pupils in relation to their learning and progress, under the guidance of the class teacher;

• Contribute to the ongoing assessment and monitoring of pupil progress and wellbeing;

• Share information appropriately with internal and external professionals, always maintaining high standards of confidentiality and safeguarding;

• Demonstrate a secure understanding of safeguarding and child protection, and be proactive in maintaining a safe and supportive environment for all.

Although the role is primarily based within the Resource Base, all members of our team are expected to support the wider needs of the school as required.

If you are passionate about making a difference, committed to inclusive education, and ready to support our children in reaching their full potential, we would love to hear from you. We warmly encourage you to visit to meet the team and the children.
