We require a passionate and motivated ELSA, with Level 3 TA qualifications, to work in a friendly, community focussed primary school. The school is committed to an inclusive policy and works hard to provide a supportive and safe space for all pupils. This is a key post in our school, which is centred around supporting children to understand and regulate their own emotions, whilst also respecting the feelings of those around them. The successful candidate will help children to develop the social and emotional skills they need to flourish in school, working in small groups or 1:1 situations. In addition to this, they will work closely with our families, building strong relationships to support all of the children in our community.
The successful candidate will work alongside the SENCO and pastoral team, as a key aspect of the pastoral provision across the school. The role requires a team player who can adapt to differing abilities and situations. We believe the successful candidate will need to be enthusiastic, passionate and resilient. An essential requirement for the role is to be able to build and maintain strong relationships with pupils, parents/carers and staff in equal measure. You must also be comfortable working with children who come from complex economic backgrounds, and have an understanding of SEND and safeguarding issues.
We are looking for an ELSA who:
• Is highly committed, enthusiastic, flexible and skilled and who is passionate about supporting children’s learning.
• Has high expectations of children and themselves; is able to show initiative and work independently and as part of a team and who would embrace our school’s values and ethos.
• Has excellent interpersonal skills and can communicate well with children and adults and who is able to gain the confidence of children.
• Has a warm personality and is able to stay calm under pressure.
• Is able to plan programmes of support and maintain succinct records of involvement.
• Is emotionally literate themselves, with a high degree of empathy, supportive and discrete.
• Is able to communicate effectively, both orally and in written form.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a friendly, caring team of professionals, who are committed to providing the very best for every child in our school.
We warmly encourage you to visit to meet the team and the children.
