Bright Kids is the “brainchild” of Tricia Wellings, Chief Executive and working parent. The success story is the result of a great deal of sustained effort by the entire family. Our aim was & is to provide genuine quality care for children from Newborn to the age of 12 years. Our family run business has created a special, bright atmosphere, where children can really develop their potential by learning through play.
In 1999 we opened a 49 place nursery in Studley (now 50 place). With the aid of a lottery grant this was soon expanded into 76 places with the addition of a 26-place Out of School Club. A successful nursery and out of school club brand formula was continuously developed and improved. This built on the traditional nursery services provided by the competition, but extended these to provide the unique Bright Kids brand of products & services. Specifically reflecting the needs of busy and working parents and their children, from Newborn to the age of 12 years, all on one safe & secure site.
The outstanding success and demand for our high quality service soon led to the opening of a sibling 47-place nursery in September 2001, at Crabbs Cross – to serve parents in the Redditch area. This was followed by the opening of a 24-place Out of school club on site in the June of the following year.
In August 2004 we acquired a then 59-place nursery in Northfield, Birmingham (now 64 places) – our first city location. In the Bright Kids tradition, a 16-place Out of School Club was created in July 2005.
Since then, we have also opened two Out of School Clubs within schools, each linked to a nursery. In 2011 Wigwam based at Wychall Primary School, close to Northfield nursery and in 2014 at Matchborough First School Academy, close to Crabbs Cross nursery.
In April 2019 Bright Kids Coughton become our fourth day care provision. The setting has 38 childcare spaces and has provision to host a before and after school club. Coughton is in the heart of Studley, near Coughton Court and is in walking distance to the local primary school. The building was- in its day ‘an old school’ and still maintains some of its original features which are truly beautiful. There are future plans to develop some of the building whilst in keeping with its natural charm and beauty.
In the summer of 2019 Bright Kids decided that four was not enough and we soon become five with the addition of Bright Kids Evesham. Bright Kids Evesham is a 48 place nursery and it situated in the heart of the town.
The nursery itself is situated within an old leisure centre which has been re designed and refurbished and hosts a number of other small businesses within the large building. The nursery has a large expanse of outdoor space which the nursery utilise well.
Next came Bright Kids Barley Lea. Barley Lea first opened its doors to the community on 15th September 2021. Bright Kids Barley Lea is situated in the middle of the Barley Lea estate in the Stoke Aldermoor area of Coventry. The building is large and is a 50-place setting. The nursery sits within the hub of the community and has been a much needed and welcomed facility by the families that access us.
Bright Kids Bell Green was our second of our Coventry based setting and Bright Kids number 7. The nursery is within a Family Hub providing vital services for families in the area. The nursery is now open all round and has a baby suite, meaning Bell Green can offer up to 57 places.
They benefit from a newly renovated garden, with room to rides bikes and run around with friends. We have had the nursery since the summer of 2023.
Summer 2023 was a busy one! We also acquired Bright Kids Lower Quinton. Based on the outskirts of Stratford Upon Avon, Lower Quinton has a ‘village vibe’ and sits within an old Doctors surgery. The setting is registered for 40 spaces. The bigger plans for Lower Quinton are to expand- watch this space!
Our success is down to our dedicated staff teams, whose excellent skills ensure we always pay the greatest attention to detail, and to the unique facilities and service we have on offer to our customers. As we say:
“Teamwork makes the Dreamwork”
