Governors at Caldicot School are seeking to appoint two enthusiastic and committed 

individuals to join our Site and Operations team. 

The successful candidates will have excellent time management skills; be proactive, well 

organised, a flexible approach and able to work on their own initiative. We aim to work 

collaboratoley within the cluster, so flexabilty is key. 

The role will involve ensuring that site facilities are maintained to promote a safe and healthy 

environment for pupils, staff, contractors and other visitors to the school at all times, which will 

include acting as key holder; monthly and termly checks; provide a caretaking service, 

undertaking minor repairs, maintenance and decoration tasks.  

Some weekend work may be required and the ability to be able to drive would be an 

advantage. 

The position is for 37 hours a week, 52 weeks of the year. working hours will be Monday - 

Friday (shift pattern will be a mixture of 6:30am - 14:30pm, 08:00am- 16:00pm or 11:00am 

7.00pm*) Flexible approach to evening hours to support with bookings and parental evenings 

and events. 

Main Duties include,  

• Act as a key holder and ensure that buildings and site are secure 

• Undertake minor repairs and maintenance tasks 

• Support a reactive and planned maintenance programme 

• Ensure the school meets legal compliances and regulations on the servicing and 

maintenance of equipment and services e.g., gas, asbestos, legionella etc.; 

• Perform daily, weekly and monthly facility compliance checks 

• Understand the importance of risk assessment and ensure that risk assessments are 

carried out 

• Oversee on-site maintenance contractors 

• Perform duties in line with Health & Safety and COSHH regulations 

• Undertake regular Health & Safety checks of buildings, grounds, fixtures and fittings 

(including compliance with fire safety regulations) 

• To provide a porterage service on the site, including furniture and equipment 

• Collect, assemble and manage site waste including any external bins 

• Maintain all areas, car parks and routes around the premises as tidy, free of 

litter, safe, clear, and presenting the school in the best way
