Contract: Permanent

Salary: Grade 6 SCP 19-25 (£32,061- £36,363) Pro Rata

Hours: 32.5 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (term time)

To start September 2026

Cardiff West Community High School is seeking to appoint a committed and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to support pupils presenting with Additional Learning Needs (ALN).

This is an exciting new role within our school, offering a unique opportunity to play a key part in shaping and strengthening our ALN provision. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about inclusion and committed to ensuring that every pupil can access a curriculum that meets their individual needs.

About the Role

Working under the direction of the ALNCo, you will:

- Provide targeted support to pupils with additional learning needs, helping them to overcome barriers to learning

- Work closely with teaching staff to adapt and deliver learning activities that meet a wide range of needs

- Support the development, implementation and review of Individual Development Plans (IDPs)

- Contribute to assessing pupils’ progress and identifying appropriate interventions

- Promote independence, inclusion and engagement in learning

- Assist in shaping and developing effective ALN provision across the school

- Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in childcare, education or supporting teaching and learning

- Experience supporting learners in a school or educational setting

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills

- Understanding of children’s development and learning needs
