Cardiff West Community High School is seeking to appoint a passionate and committed Specialist Resource Base (SRB) Teacher for Emotional Health and Wellbeing to join our inclusive and ambitious learning community.

Guided by our school motto, “Create Your World”, we are dedicated to ensuring that every young person is supported to thrive academically, emotionally and socially. This post provides an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference to the lives of pupils with Additional Learning Needs (ALN), particularly those requiring specialist support in emotional health and wellbeing.

About the Role

The successful candidate will:

• Teach and support pupils in Years 7–11 and possibly Post-16 within the Specialist Resource Base

• Plan, deliver and assess high-quality learning experiences tailored to individual pupil needs

• Support pupils’ emotional regulation, resilience and engagement with learning

• Work closely with the SRB Lead Teacher, Progress Leaders and specialist staff

• Contribute to mentoring, PSE, enrichment activities and parents’ evenings

• Promote inclusive, restorative and relational practice across the school

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Essential

• A degree, PGCE and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

• Experience teaching secondary-aged pupils across a range of abilities

• Secure experience working with pupils with Additional Learning Needs

• Knowledge of the Curriculum for Wales

• A strong commitment to inclusion and pupil wellbeing

• Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) and willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check

Desirable

• Experience teaching additional subject areas

• Additional qualifications related to ALN, SEMH or wellbeing

• Ability to speak Welsh

• A commitment to restorative and relational approaches
