I am delighted that you are considering our wonderful school community as your next place of work. We focus on being brilliant in the basics at Castle Mead Academy: doing the simple things really well, so that teachers can teach, and scholars can learn. We have extremely high expectations because we know, without exception, that every child is capable of excellence and will flourish in our school. Our teachers are passionate subject experts and will provide your child with an excellent education across the curriculum. Our routines are designed to ensure a calm and orderly atmosphere and we look for all our parents’ support in upholding the values, systems and rules that make our school an orderly and respectful environment for all. We place maximum emphasis on excellent behaviour and a thoughtful caring attitude to each other. This is supported by a strong pastoral system which ensures we get to know every child well. We build a strong sense of belonging in our school and this is underpinned by the value we place on relationships between staff and scholars.
At Castle Mead, we are relentless in our efforts to make the biggest positive difference possible. Over the past five years, we have been growing a community of excellence in the heart of our city. We are immensely proud of our achievements so far but are driven by a commitment to keep on getting better: as we enter our sixth year, we are incredibly excited about this next phase of growth and look forward to you being a big part of that journey.
Chloe French
Principal, Castle Mead Academy
Castle Mead Academy is characterised by high expectations, doing the simple things well, and the belief that all children can succeed. Situated in the heart of historic Leicester, we are driven by a moral commitment to ‘grow a community of excellence’ for the benefit of all children in the city.
It is a great privilege to be entrusted to educate another person’s child. For me, education is about developing both scholars’ intelligence and character. With extended opportunities our scholars have more time to acquire knowledge, skills and understanding, as well as more opportunities to broaden their learning and expand their horizons. Therefore, every scholar will have access to the best provision, being enabled to achieve highly regardless of prior attainment, needs or background. We have an expert staff team who are really focused on teaching and learning and we each child will meet their full potential with our careful support.
The Mead Educational Trust (TMET) is a growing partnership of primary and secondary academies in Leicester.
We exist to improve the life chances of children and young people by having high aspirations, pairing the highest quality teaching with the widest possible educational opportunities.
Building on Rushey Mead Academy’s outstanding track record, we have grown to 10 partner schools and established the Leicester Teaching School Alliance as well as our School Based Initial Teacher Training Centre. Through this, we are able to draw on first class leadership and outstanding teaching and learning practices to support each learner, making sure that they have every opportunity to achieve. Our collaborative approach ensures that exceptional practices are fostered and encouraged within each of our pupils to provide the best learning experience we can.
