St Werburgh’s is a dynamic inner-city primary school with two sites in close proximity to each other. We are seeking the right leader to be our new Assistant Headteacher with responsibility for teaching and learning due to the promotion of our current teaching and learning lead. The successful candidate will be an outstanding teacher, an efficient organiser and an inspiring, empathetic leader.

The successful candidate will be able to build strong relationships with colleagues, children and families. To be an organised leader of teaching, learning and assessment systems and processes and to provide impactful support to colleagues. They will have high expectations of our children and work hard to ensure that barriers to their future success are removed. They will be kind, committed and curious.

Purpose of the role

The role of the Assistant Head is to lead and further develop teaching, learning and assessment across the school. To oversee provision for students in receipt of pupil premium and other potentially vulnerable groups of learners including children with English as an additional language.

The successful candidate will work alongside our other Assistant Head (Pastoral) to support the Headteacher in providing professional leadership for the school; deputising for the Headteacher in their absence; ensuring high quality education for all pupils; and implementing strategies that enable improvement to be made and standards to be raised.

At St Werburgh’s Primary we all work ‘Together Towards Excellence’ for all children in our care, driven by our core values of kindness, commitment and curiosity.

We can offer you…

  • Leadership development and the support of a strong, positive and forward thinking team at St Werburgh’s Primary and across our trust
