About the Role

We are seeking a caring, motivated and proactive Family Support Worker & Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead to join our Junior School team. This is an exciting and rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about improving outcomes for children and families, and who thrives in a role where no two days are the same.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the Vice Principal with the school’s pastoral, SEND and attendance provision, while taking a central role in safeguarding as a Deputy DSL.

Key Responsibilities

As part of our pastoral and safeguarding team, you will:

Act as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, responding to concerns, supporting children, liaising with external agencies and maintaining accurate and timely safeguarding records.

Provide practical, emotional and early help support to children and their families, helping remove barriers to learning and ensuring all children feel safe and able to thrive.

Work closely with the Vice Principal on pastoral initiatives, behaviour support, and wellbeing interventions across the school.

Support the coordination and monitoring of SEND provision, working in collaboration with the SENCO to help meet the diverse needs of our learners.

Play a key role in improving attendance, including building positive relationships with families, conducting home visits where appropriate, and supporting the implementation of attendance strategies.

Develop strong partnerships with staff, families, external agencies and community services.

Promote a culture of safeguarding, inclusion, nurture and high aspirations for all pupils.

Has experience of working with children and families, ideally within an education, social care, or community setting.

Understands safeguarding practices and is committed to keeping children safe.

Is a compassionate listener and effective communicator, able to build trust with pupils, families and professionals.

Is highly organised, calm under pressure and able to manage a varied workload.

Works well as part of a dedicated team, but is confident taking initiative when needed.

Shares our belief that every child deserves the chance to succeed.
