Clare House School Porthcawl is seeking to appoint an ambitious and dynamic Head of School (Designate) 0.2 FTE to join our founding team. This is a strategic leadership opportunity to help shape the curriculum, pedagogy and professional culture of a new school community from the very beginning, working closely with the Executive Head of School to establish foundations designed to endure for future generations.

Role overview
- Lead the development of curriculum and pedagogy across Early Years through to Key Stage 2
- Support the creation of a coherent, experiential and child-centred approach to teaching and learning
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to establish consistent expectations for curriculum, teaching, assessment and professional practice
- Coach and support teaching staff through professional dialogue, mentoring and development
- Contribute to school improvement, evaluation and strategic planning
- Deputise for the Executive Head of School where required
- Combine this leadership responsibility with a teaching commitment within the primary phase
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification
- A Master’s degree and/or additional professional qualifications such as an NPQ
- Strong understanding of curriculum design, pedagogy and evidence-informed practice across the primary phase
- Commitment to creating inclusive, relational and child-centred learning environments
- Ability to lead and develop others through collaboration, coaching and professional dialogue
- Confidence working strategically as part of a growing and values-led school community
- Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and commitment to pupil wellbeing
