Two Bridges Academy is a specialist SEND school that opened in September 2024 and, in a short time, has established an exceptional educational offer for our pupils. As we move towards our final phase of growth in September 2026, we are now seeking to expand our team by appointing an outstanding Swimming Assistant.
We are designated as a provision for pupils with SLD and PMLD, with a large proportion of our cohort having ASC or SLCN identified as the primary need on their EHCP. Our provision is carefully adapted to meet the diverse needs of all pupils, including in our hydrotherapy and swimming sessions.
Role overview:
As a Swimming Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils to access safe, engaging and therapeutic swimming and hydrotherapy sessions. Working under the direction of the Swimming Instructor, teachers and therapists, you will help deliver structured aquatic activities that promote physical development, communication, sensory regulation and wellbeing.
You will be required to work in the water, supporting pupils to enter, move and participate safely using appropriate flotation aids and manual handling techniques. You will also support the delivery of hydrotherapy programmes under the guidance of a physiotherapist.
You will play a key role in encouraging pupils to develop confidence, independence and enjoyment in water, while contributing to a positive and supportive team environment and sharing progress with colleagues and families.
Interviews are due to take place on Monday 13th July 2026
Enable Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Suitability to work with children and young people will form part of the selection process. Short-listed applicants will be asked to complete a self-declaration of their criminal record or information that would make them unsuitable to work with children and young people. We will carry out online searches on all short-listed applicants, in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education, Part 3, Safer Recruitment. Where given permission to do so, references will be requested for short-listed candidates prior to interview. Candidates attending an interview should expect the interview panel to explore issues relating to safeguarding. All successful applicants will be required to undergo security and vetting checks appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and an enhanced DBS check. Applicants must be aware that it is an offence to apply for a role if barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children and young people.
Equality information:
We particularly welcome applications from under represented groups including ethnicity, gender, transgender, age, disability, sexual orientation or religion.
