Introduction

Four Stones Gateway Trust - the Lead Institution for the SHaW Maths Hub –

are looking to appoint an Assistant Maths Hub Lead (Secondary) to work as

part of the Maths Hub Leadership and Management Team. SHaW Maths Hub

is one of 40 Department for Education-designated Maths Hubs working

together as part of the national Maths Hub programme.

Maths Hubs offer professional development opportunities for anyone involved in

the teaching of maths, with the aim of driving school-wide change. All activities

are led by local school-based teachers and leaders of maths who together

form a professional learning community referred to as Local Leaders of Maths

Education (LLME).

SHaW Maths Hub works in partnership with schools and colleges to support the

continuous improvement of mathematics education for all pupils in Salop,

Herefordshire and Wolverhampton.

Role Summary

The Assistant Maths Hub Lead for Secondary plays a key role within the Maths

Hub Leadership and Management Team (MHLM Team). The purpose of this

role is to provide oversight of teaching for mastery in secondary schools

across the Maths Hub’s area, by leading, developing, and providing

expertise for this aspect of the hub’s work. The role is primarily focused on

high-quality program delivery, developing the expertise of Local Leaders of

Mathematics Education (LLMEs) and building strong partnerships with schools

and system partners to improve outcomes for pupils.

The post is funded for 80 days per academic year (2026/27). This is calculated

at 2 days a week for 40 weeks (including term-time). Please note that we will

also consider candidates who wish to be considered for 40 days per academic

year (1 day a week) and therefore split this post across two applicants.

Preferences should be clear in the letter of application. The applicant’s school

will be fully funded for the release time associated with this secondment with

an SLA in place between the school and the SHaW Hub (paid at £400 a

day). This post is also available to ‘independent’ candidates on an SLA

basis.
