About the role:
We have an exciting opportunity at Lacon Childe School to become a Head of Year (non-teaching). The Head of Year will lead the provision of pastoral care within a year group to secure excellent learning, so all students achieve their potential within an atmosphere in which they feel challenged, valued and secure.
This is a key role within our pastoral structure, responsible for leading the wellbeing, behaviour and personal development of a designated year group. You will play a vital role in ensuring all students feel supported, safe, and able to succeed, both personally and academically.
We are looking for someone who:
• Is passionate about supporting young people and making a difference
• Demonstrates excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Is resilient, calm, and able to manage complex situations
• Has strong organisational and leadership abilities
• Can build trust and rapport with students from diverse backgrounds
• Is proactive, solution-focused, and committed to inclusion and safeguarding
• Has experience of line managing
• Has a strong understanding of safeguarding and student wellbeing
This is a permanent role starting 1 September 2026.
