Salary: Scale 4 (7-11) £27,274- £29,070 actual salary from £23,457

Hours: 37 hours per week, term time weekdays only plus the school training days

About the role:

We are looking for a passionate and committed Literacy Intervention Specialist to join our team. This role is central to our mission of supporting students to achieve their potential by delivering targeted, evidence-based phonics interventions, developing reading confidence, closing attainment gaps, and fostering a lifelong love of reading. You will work closely alongside our Literacy Intervention Lead and report to our whole school literacy co-ordinator.

The Literacy Intervention Specialist will have responsibility for:

▪ Supporting learners in achieving their potential by ensuring they can read well and confidently.

▪ Delivering structured phonics-based intervention programmes, including Fresh Start, Lexia and Direct Instruction, to identified underachieving students.

▪ Leading on writing interventions and programmes, including handwriting. 

▪ Working with students one-to-one and in small groups outside timetabled lessons.

▪ Building positive relationships with learners to enhance confidence and fulfil their potential.

▪ Supporting the day-to-day running of the whole school library.

▪ Providing administrative support for the school's literacy intervention programmes, including record keeping and data entry.

▪ Running a range of daily extra-curricular clubs which supports students’ literacy.

Our successful candidate will have the following experience, skillset and qualifications:

▪ Enjoys working collaboratively with staff and students.

▪ Demonstrates commitment to safeguarding and student welfare.

The post is permanent for 37 hours per week, term time only plus the school training days.
