Outdoor Learning

Outdoor learning nurtures holistic development, promotes health and well-being and fosters environmental awareness. By engaging with nature, children benefit from diverse sensory experiences that stimulate creativity and reduce stress. Our environment offers unique hands-on exploration and experiential learning. Through collaborative outdoor activities, children develop essential social skills and learn to assess and manage risks effectively.

Forest School

Forest schools provide an holistic supportive and inclusive environment for social interaction and emotional growth. Children learn to collaborate, communicate and cooperate with their peers in natural settings, developing important social skills such as teamwork and empathy. Spending time in nature also promotes emotional resilience and well-being.

Wildlife sightings

Capturing evening wildlife footage, especially of nocturnal animals, is invaluable for our educational program. This footage offers rare insights into nocturnal behaviour. Sharing these videos on a YouTube channel invites both children and the wider community to appreciate and learn about the natural world. This initiative sparks curiosity, promotes conservation discussions and strengthens the children’s connection to their environment in an engaging way.

Sport

Participating in sport promotes healthy habits and physical fitness, enhancing overall well-being. It also builds self-confidence, resilience and self-esteem as children overcome challenges and achieve success. Sports provide a constructive outlet for stress and help manage emotions. At Foxton, we foster active lifestyles and aim for children to develop lifelong habits of physical activity while having fun!

Trips and Residentials

Year 5 & 6 have the exciting opportunity to spend three nights in Normandy, France, immersing themselves in French culture and further developing their language skills. Our Year 3 & 4 students will enjoy a residential experience closer to home in the UK. Beyond these adventures, children can look forward to a variety of engaging day trips tailored to their classroom learning. Previous excursions have included visits to the National Space Museum, New Walk Museum, Rutland Water and enjoyable walks down to Foxton Locks.
