Location: Bedminster Down School (near Bristol)
Contract: 37 hours per week. Term time only, plus two inset days.

Bedminster Down School is looking for a calm and authoritative person to join our behaviour team as a Behaviour Support Worker. Behaviour expectations at Bedminster Down School are high and our behaviour team thrives on supporting young people to flourish. Bedminster Down School is rated as good by Ofsted and our large support staff team play a vital role in ensuring that the wider needs of our students are catered for as effectively as possible.
As a Behaviour Support Worker you will be a key player in ensuring that the standards we expect are consistently maintained at all times across the school. You will be a figure that students see throughout the school day, ensuring that students are treating each other and the school site with respect and getting the very most out of their lessons. Staff and students will look to you to support with, and diffuse, challenging situations. The ideal candidate will therefore be confident in such scenarios and will have the expertise and gravitas required to ensure that students comply with their requests and expectations quickly.
In addition to playing a vital role around the school site, our Behaviour Support Team also support in our Referral Room – a behaviour room with exceptionally high behavioural standards – as well as delivering interventions to improve the behaviour of students. We operate a ‘Ready to Learn’ behaviour system in the school. Our consistent approach to behaviour management across the school ensures that any low-level disruption is dealt with rapidly and effectively, with students sent to the Referral Room if they aren’t effectively meeting the standards expected in their classroom. Our senior and pastoral teams support the behaviour team in ensuring the standards in this space are never compromised.
You may also work with a caseload of students to improve their behaviour over time.
