Overview

Goldsworth Primary School is a well-established, high achieving school where our aim is to enable all children to ‘Be the Best they Can Be’. We are a three-form entry school and have 630 children on role.

Set within our grounds is Golden Owls Day Nursery, a 52 place full-time day nursery and the Wise Owl Club, a well-attended breakfast and after-school club.

We are part of The SWAN Trust, a multi-academy trust comprised of ten Woking Schools (all within the Primary phase). The trust is led by a Chief Executive Officer, each school has its own Headteacher and dynamic leadership team. We work closely together and aim to provide a caring community, excellent education, and opportunities for all children in our care.

The school has excellent facilities including an enclosed and heated swimming pool, two environmental areas, a running track and separate sports hall which help to provide the children with greater opportunities for learning.

We are very proud to be a multicultural school as our children come from diverse backgrounds within the Woking community. One of our many strengths is our emphasis on the values needed to become excellent citizens and kind, considerate people. All our children display these values in their behaviour and attitudes to learning and each other making Goldsworth a positive, affirming place to work.

About Us

Our mission is to empower children to have a bright future. The Gold of Goldsworth drives everything we do as we believe that the purpose of education is to ensure everyone in our school community is able to flourish:

Growing together

Opportunities for all

Learning for life

Daring to dream

Our Curriculum Principles

In our ever-changing, complex world, the children of today need to develop the knowledge, skills, and strength of character to empower them to create their own bright future. Our curriculum is designed to:

Strengthen Social justice through the acquisition of powerful knowledge and to develop character.

We provide every child with the powerful knowledge they need to build a strong foundation for learning. Reading is given the highest priority as this enables access to the full curriculum and beyond. Our selected subject content supports children to develop their knowledge of complex issues, giving them an informed voice in a changing world. Our curriculum reflects our diverse community and empowers children to be the voice of a better future for all.

Development of Character

We enable children to develop a positive attitude towards learning, whilst maintaining excellent behaviour. Children understand the importance of values, which they learn through specific teaching, curriculum subjects and key texts, to guide their thinking and behaviour. Our curriculum supports children to develop the skills and knowledge needed to become confident, compassionate learners who are able to build and maintain happy and healthy relationships.

Our Curriculum Concepts

Our curriculum design is based on robust cognitive science research. This foundation helps children to know more, do more and remember more over time. Children are required to retrieve and build on previous learning, as they return to key themes throughout their years at Goldsworth Primary School.

Community - Developing healthy, happy communities is at the heart of everything we do. We deepen children’s knowledge to enable them to form great relationships with people from all backgrounds.

Environment - Children's knowledge of how to protect and care for the world develops their voice of change, enabling them to become active world citizens who are determined to create a more sustainable future.

Innovation - Innovation and technology are key and we ensure every child has the opportunity to learn creatively, enabling them to become the great innovators of the future.

Working for us

We know that our staff are our greatest asset and, as such, aim to provide as many opportunities as possible for staff to develop their own bright future. We encourage staff to work across the trust and gain experience in a variety of settings to become more skilful and develop greater knowledge. Staff work together collaboratively to research the best teaching practices and to learn from each other and support one another. Staff are curious about what excellent learning looks like and all strive for the very best outcomes for our children.

If you are seeking to work in a dynamic, forward thinking primary school, why not contact us now? You'll be working at a great school and be part of a friendly, supportive team.
