We are delighted to extend a warm welcome to you as the Executive Headteacher, and Head of School, of our unique and nurturing junior school, which is part of The Federation of Guillemont Junior School and Pinewood Infant School. Both schools work closely together and some key staff work across both schools. This joint approach helps to ensure that our pupils have a cohesive and progressive primary experience.
At Guillemont we believe in creating a nurturing and inclusive learning environment where every child can thrive. We understand the importance of strong partnerships between home and school and we value your involvement as part of our learning community.
Our dedicated team of teachers and support staff are committed to delivering high quality teaching and learning experiences that inspire and engage our students. We strive to deliver a broad and balanced curriculum. By fostering a love of learning, we aim to equip our children with the skills, knowledge and motivation that they need to be successful in life.
We have wonderful indoor and outdoor facilities with our own site, including an amphitheatre, new adventure playground, decking area, our huge climbing frame, pond, spectacular ‘Chill-out’ room, and aviary, are used to enhance our curriculum and provide real life experiences for all of the children.
Mr Paul Shakespeare (Executive Headteacher) & Ms Kristy Llewellyn (Head of School)
Our children, staff, parents and governors have worked effectively together to create, and are committed to, the following vision:
Our nurturing ethos values the unique qualities of every child encouraging them to become independent, successful and confident learners that have the resilience, skills and knowledge to equip them for an ever-changing future. There is a warm, welcoming inclusive culture, which develops a sense of identity and belonging for our children; enabling them to make a positive difference by valuing themselves, each other and the wider community. We celebrate and respect diversity, and encourage our children to have limitless aspirations. We strongly believe that behaviour is communication, therefore this underpins our positive, restorative approach and develops the ability for our children to understand and regulate their emotions.
We have a strong shared emphasis on bringing learning to life through real and enriching experiences in order to develop our children’s cultural capital and understanding of the world around them. Whatever our children’s starting points, with the right support and challenge at the right time, we develop and promote a thirst for knowledge and love of learning with the highest expectation of themselves and each other. We encourage risk-taking within our safe and stimulating learning environments to enable children to become creative problem solvers. A broad and balanced curriculum incorporates outdoor learning opportunities that will encourage our children to have a fascination and curiosity about the world. Our children are at the heart of everything we do and we value their voices in shaping a successful future for our community.
