Contract: Full time (37 hours per week), all year round

Start date: As soon as possible

Gwernyfed High School is seeking to appoint an exceptional and highly motivated Finance and Information Manager to join our Senior Leadership Team. This is a key strategic role within the school, offering an exciting opportunity to lead and shape our financial, data and administrative systems to support continued school improvement.

About the role

As a fully functioning member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), contribute to the direction, operational procedures and management of the school. You will lead on:

Financial management and strategic planning, including budgeting, forecasting and ensuring value for money

Data and information systems, ensuring accuracy, compliance and effective use across the school

HR processes, including safer recruitment, onboarding and staff absence management

Business and administrative systems, driving efficiency and compliance with statutory requirements

Line management of key support staff, including finance, data, IT and examinations

You will work closely with the Headteacher, SLT, Governing Body and Local Authority, providing high-quality advice, analysis and reporting to support decision-making.

About you

We are looking for a professional who:

Has significant experience in financial and business management, ideally in education or a similarly complex organisation

Has a strategic mindset alongside strong operational skills

Is confident working at senior level and contributing to whole-school leadership

Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships

Demonstrates integrity, resilience and a commitment to confidentiality

A recognised financial qualification (e.g. AAT, CIPFA, CCAB) is desirable, or a willingness to work towards this with Local Authority support.

Why Gwernyfed High School?

A supportive and inclusive school culture, where staff wellbeing is genuinely valued

A leadership role with real influence over whole-school improvement

Opportunities for professional development and further qualification, fully supported by the Local Authority

A unique working environment, set within extensive grounds and a Grade II listed building

An excellent location, close to the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park and within easy reach of Cardiff, Brecon, Hereford and surrounding areas

Join our vibrant team at our unique location, just a short journey from major centres. We are approximately 1 hour 15 minutes from Cardiff, Swansea and Newport, 40 minutes from Hereford and Abergavenny, and 35 minutes from Llandrindod Wells.
