External Relations Officer
35 hours a week, all year round
Salary – £31,995 to £36,070 per annum
We are seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic, and highly organised External Relations Officer to help relaunch the School’s Development and Alumnae Relations function. Working closely with the Director of Marketing and Communications, the marketing and communications team, and with the support of an experienced external consultant, this is an exciting opportunity to establish a vibrant programme of alumni engagement, community relations, and fundraising initiatives ahead of the School’s 175th anniversary celebrations.
This is a rare opportunity to shape and grow a reimagined development and alumni relations function at a pivotal moment in the School’s history. You will join a supportive, collaborative team with the chance to make a real and lasting impact on our community connections, heritage celebrations and fundraising success.
This role is ideal for a proactive self-starter with experience in relationship management, event coordination, and database administration (ToucanTech or similar). You will play a key part in expanding the School’s events programme, building meaningful connections with alumni, parents, former staff, and friends of the School and in time strengthening the School’s philanthropic endeavours.
We offer a comprehensive induction and CPD programme for all levels of staff, competitive remuneration package, free lunch during term time and well-equipped facilities.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a fun, forward-thinking School which is committed to academic excellence and continual development of staff.

St John’s School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Applicants must be willing to undergo safeguarding screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). The School may carry out online searches on shortlisted candidates and all applications will be required to provide details of their online profile, including social media accounts, as part of their application. The job holder should be aware of their responsibilities for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons who they may come into contact with whilst at St John’s.
