About the job

Location: The post holder can be home based (in the UK), hybrid, or at our head office in Market Harborough, Leicestershire.

Contract: This role is offered on a permanent full-time basis - 35hrs per week.

Salary: c£65k, dependent upon experience, skills and qualifications.

HMC have an exciting opportunity for a Head of International Member Services. HMC’s international division provides a community of heads and senior leaders embedded in a global association for schools. HMC schools are amongst the finest in the world.

This is a critical and high-profile leadership role and your focus will be on the further development of HMC as a global brand in independent education. You’ll be responsible for the strategic leadership, development and delivery of HMC’s international membership growth strategy, CPD, services and support for international schools.

The vacancy follows the retirement of the current post holder after three successful years in post which has seen a doubling in size of the international division to nearly 80 schools.

What You Will Be Doing

The postholder works within the Member Services team but with close working relationships with other teams in the organisation and with HMC members and schools around the world.

  • Strategic development planning to support HMC’s international objectives
  • Establishing and building strong relationships with current and potential international members 
  • Providing support and guidance for international heads and schools
  • Developing a strong community of schools and facilitating global networking
  • Achieving HMC’s international membership growth targets and maintaining the high quality of schools joining HMC
  • Overseeing the application process for aspiring international members of HMC
  • Taking part in occasional international school accreditation visits 
  • Conducting research to understand the CPD and support needs of HMC’s international schools
  • Leading the design and development of new services, CPD provision and programmes for international schools
  • Contributing to the delivery of existing HMC member services and increasing take-up of HMC Professional Development provision among our international schools
  • Speaking at HMC events conferences
  • Developing productive and positive relationships with partner organisations 
  • Supporting HMC International Division meetings and contributing to other HMC groups 
  • Representing HMC at international conferences and visiting schools around the world
  • Acting as a bridge between HMC’s head office team and our international schools

About You

You are an accomplished and globally minded education professional with:

  • Extensive insight into international education: A demonstratable and in-depth understanding of the independent school sector outside the UK, ideally acquired through senior leadership experience in an international school setting. 
  • A proven ability to design and deliver high-impact services and CPD programmes tailored to the evolving needs of schools.
  • Exemplary communication skills: You possess outstanding written and verbal communication abilities, enabling you to engage effectively with a diverse range of people across cultures and contexts.
  • A proactive, solution-oriented mindset: Naturally adaptable and resilient, you bring a positive, ‘can do’ attitude and thrive in dynamic environments that require innovative thinking and agile problem solving.
  • Creative and visionary thinking: You are energised by developing new initiatives and tackling complex challenges with originality and clarity.

The second interviews are scheduled to take place in person at our head office in Market Harborough between 6-8th August 2025.

The start date is flexible, but ideally the appointee will take up post as soon as possible.

The role is based in the UK and only candidates who are eligible to work in the UK will be considered.
