As a Teacher of Computer Science at the RGS, you will be confident teaching our high achieving students at GCSE and A-level. We welcome applications from both experienced teachers and those new to the profession and are happy to consider full time or part time hours. This position is for September 2026.

You will have an in-depth knowledge of Computer Science and be enthusiastic to share this in a classroom setting with students from the third form (Year 9) through to Upper Sixth. The ideal candidate will also be comfortable teaching a second subject to GCSE or above.

There are currently 120 students studying Computer Science across GCSE and A-level. Students perform well in public exams with around 85% achieving Grade 8 – 9 at GCSE, and 75% achieving A*/A at A-level.

RGS Guildford recently announced its plan to become co-educational; girls will be welcomed into the RGS with a phased entry starting in September 2027. Further details are available on our website and will be sent when you register your interest.

As well as nurturing enthusiastic students, the RGS is a welcoming and rewarding place to work. The latest ISI inspection report identified two significant strengths within our School; "scholarship" and "mutual respect".

You would be joining a friendly, motivated team who take pride in their pupils’ achievements both in and outside of the classroom at events such as the Bebras Computational Thinking competition, the British Algorithmic Olympiad and the Perse Coding Challenge.

Benefits of working at the RGS include:

  • Salary well above the national scale
  • Private medical scheme
  • Generous relocation package for those living outside the area
  • Comprehensive Employee Assistance Programme
  • Use of on-site gym (at certain times of day)
  • Fee reduction for sons/daughters of staff (after a qualifying period and subject to entrance exam)
