Welcome to Our School

Our mission is to support every child to reach their potential both academically and personally, a responsibility we all take very seriously.

King’s Oak is a proud member of the Cabot Learning Federation (CLF) who will be supporting and challenging us to provide an excellent education for all of our children. By working with academies across the Trust, rather than in isolation, we accelerate school improvement and embed excellence in our Academy.

We have two key expectations for our students. That they WORK HARD and BE KIND. This simple phrase aligns with our determination that all of our children will feel successful and exploit all the opportunities available to them in their future. We have high expectations of our colleagues as well as our children within a highly inclusive Academy.

There are many advantages of having children from age 4 to 16 within the school. As educators we are passionate about supporting children to grow and mature from Reception through to Year 11; designing and delivering a curriculum and education across the phases that fully prepares them for their future. The intent behind the curriculum supports all children to have a foundation of knowledge and skills that deepens their understanding so that they seek meaning in their learning. This sets the foundation for children to have a developed sense of self and place so that they make positive decisions about their future, including progression to CLF Post-16 provision.

Our Ethos and Vision

King’s Oak Academy is founded on three core purposes which allow our students to achieve excellent outcomes in a caring and stimulating learning community:

  • Trust
  • Respect
  • Inspire

Trust:

  • LEADERSHIP is supportive and visible. Trust is evident through clear communication and consistent approaches;
    BEHAVIOUR at the Academy follows clear expectations and boundaries, meaning that learning built on trust;
  • The CURRICULUM is trustworthy through its relevance both locally as well as nationally, enabling learners to enter the wider world with the confidence and skills allowing them to follow their dreams;
  • LEARNING and TEACHING allows teachers as well as students to develop professional skills and work together, trusting everyone to build upon the best practice of both primary and secondary colleagues.

Respect:

  • LEADERSHIP is based on Respect. This is demonstrated as all staff, students and families are recognised as leaders and role models within the Academy;
  • BEHAVIOUR is such that all students develop in a positive and happy environment at King’s Oak Academy; students and staff respect each other as shown through complete engagement in learning;
  • The CURRICULUM is respected by students as their experience of it gives them every opportunity to learn to depth and master core skills in every subject. They are offered choices at all stages of learning to ensure they follow their own pathway to success;
  • LEARNING and TEACHING is based on everyone respecting the right to learn at all times; learning is challenging and stretches everyone.

Inspire:

  • LEADERSHIP opportunities given to students important. Student leadership inspires us and, therefore, has a genuine impact on the Academy community;
  • BEHAVIOUR : staff and students have visible pride in the Academy, inspiring us all to continually try to better ourselves;
  • The CURRICULUM is inclusive and empowering, inspiring excitement, purpose, ambition and aspiration in every student;
  • LEARNING and TEACHING inspires us all by being passionate and enquiry based. We are developing confident young people, not just learners and we have the highest expectations of every single student in our care.

Through these core purposes, we aim to work with parents, carers and the wider community to help our young people be ambitious for themselves, confident and responsible, as well as creative in nurturing their own individuality.

Working for Us

Our Academy is part of the Cabot Learning Federation and benefits from all the advantages of being part of a group of academies.

Children visit other academies for sports and other events such as language or science activities.  Students from the secondary academies visit us for to perform drama and take part in sports activities, as well as lead some of them.  We share good practice between academies and teachers from all academies in the Federation visit the other academies for professional development.

Here at the Cabot Learning Federation (CLF), we like to celebrate. We celebrate exam results, collaboration, achievement, innovations and new ideas; we celebrate the determination of our students; we celebrate the amazing role played by staff; and we celebrate the efforts and successes of our team.

We celebrate the small achievements and the big. But far from being self-congratulatory, we are always looking to learn, to improve education and to make a positive difference for students and their families. And that's where you come in.

 At the CLF, we value your experience, skills, expertise and ideas. We expect you to help us to be the very best education provider, and in return we will listen and support you to take your career in whichever direction you choose.

With the CLF you can be a leader, find solutions, become an expert, close the gaps and inspire and influence.  The range of roles and opportunities in the CLF is as diverse as the communities we serve.

Or you may simply want to fulfil your defined role to the very best of your abilities.

Whatever our individual aspirations, together we make education real every day, in a very individual sense for each student. We learn each day from colleagues, students, families and local communities and we embrace our values and take pride in our work.

Cabot Learning Federation

Welcome to the Cabot Learning Federation. Our partnership is sponsored by Rolls Royce PLC and The University of the West England (UWE).  We are now the sponsors of ten Academies in Bristol, Weston super Mare and Bath. This means that we are responsible and accountable for the education of 5000 students between the ages of 4 and 19 and for the employment and support of nearly 700 staff.

Our vision is based upon our mission of “collaboration for outstanding achievement” and the work that is now shared between our schools at senior and middle leadership level, teachers and support staff underpins this every day. All of our staff are employed by the CLF and this enables us to give colleagues the opportunity to work in more than one Academy either for their own development or because the skills that they have are needed by more than one of our schools.
