Computer Science is at the heart of the modern world, shaping the way we communicate, work and solve problems. Situated within the Maths faculty, we believe that every student can become a confident and capable computer scientist, regardless of prior experience. We aim to develop students who are not only technically skilled, but also creative, logical and resilient problem-solvers who can apply computational thinking to real-world situations. Taught by passionate subject specialists, students build strong foundations in programming, computational thinking, cyber security, computer systems and digital literacy, whilst developing the confidence to create, analyse and innovate using technology.
Growing in popularity, we offer the OCR GCSE Computer Science course at Key Stage 4 in addition to the OCR A Level Computer Science course at Key Stage 5 which is also highly popular and successful. Students benefit from a curriculum that balances rigorous theoretical understanding with practical programming and problem-solving skills, preparing them for university, apprenticeships and careers within the rapidly evolving technology sector.
The successful candidate would join a supportive and forward-thinking department that values collaboration, high-quality pedagogy and the sharing and development of engaging resources. As a department, we are passionate about inspiring curiosity and enthusiasm for technology through creative teaching, enrichment opportunities and practical application. Computer Science is taught in dedicated subject-specific classrooms equipped with modern technology and interactive displays to support live modelling, programming demonstrations and collaborative learning experiences.
