Overview

Welcome to our wonderful school.

Lytchett Minster is a very successful and popular comprehensive school with a large and thriving sixth form. We have recently been judged to be 'good' by OFSTED (May 2017).

Our aim at Lytchett is to enable all students (regardless of their social, economic or ethnic background, or their perceived 'ability' on entry) to lead successful, responsible, active, happy and fulfilling lives.

At Lytchett, we pride ourselves on our high standards. This manifests itself in a postive work ethic, strong moral values, excellent behaviour and a profound respect for the rights and dignity of others.

Students at Lytchett are extremely well cared for. Our House system is very much a strength of the school, providing every student with a sense of belonging and of being valued as an individual.

We have an excellent and highly motivated team of staff who are totally committed to their students and are passionate about their subjects. The quality of teaching and learning is demonstrated by our excellent exam results, particualrly the sixth form, where our A-Level results compare favourably with the best in the country.

We offer a broad and balanced curriculum. We expect our students to leave Lytchett as well-educated, well-rounded, polite, sophisticated young adults, highly literate and numerate, with an appreciation of aesthetic values and an understanding of the wonders of modern science and technology.

We offer an enormous range of extra-curricular clubs, activities and trips. Students are encouraged to get fully emmersed in the cultural and sporting life of the school. We are very much about educating the 'whole child' and providing them with outstanding and memorable learning opportunities.

The learning environment is nothing short of inspirational. Our buidlings provide the perfect blend of the very best in traditional and modern architectural design with state-of-the-art facilities.

Our Core Values

  • To provide a safe, caring learning environment
  • To have high expectations of all our staff and students

  • To develop a love of learning and to become life-long learners
  • To understand the importance of hard work
  • To become responsible, caring and tolerant citizens who will make a valuable contribution to society
  • To always do what is in the best interests of our students
  • To have integrity and to lead by example
  • To listen and consult
  • To be ambitious for the school and to develop a culture of aspiration and leadership
  • To make wise decisions based on what is educationally sound and financially viable
  • To take joint responsibility for all decisions made at Senior Leadership Team level
