We are looking to appoint a highly organised and dedicated professional who places the smooth running of the school and the well-being of pupils and staff at the heart of everythi ...
As Headteacher, I am proud to lead a school that is deeply committed to academic achievement, personal growth, and community engagement. At The Maelor School, we believe every pupil has unique potential. We encourage our pupils to ‘Be the Best Version of Themselves’ in a safe and inclusive environment where everyone can flourish.
We hold our pupils to very high standards, expecting them to work hard, behave respectfully, and present themselves smartly. Although we are proud of our long-standing reputation for academic excellence, we believe that education is about more than just results. Our mission is to help our pupils to discover and nurture their unique talents while developing the skills necessary for success in adult life.
Many parents outside our traditional catchment area choose The Maelor School for its nurturing environment, where their children are challenged to excel. While many of our pupils come from the nearby villages around Penley, others choose to travel from across Wrexham, Shropshire, and Cheshire to experience our warm, close-knit community in a picturesque rural setting.
Our governing body is committed to maintaining our current size, preserving the small-school atmosphere where each pupil is known as an individual, and the aspirations of our largely rural community are fully realised.
Respect
At The Maelor School, we believe respect is the foundation of a thriving community.
True respect begins with self-respect—valuing our own worth, choices, and responsibilities. From this foundation, we learn to extend the same kindness, empathy, and understanding to others. By showing self-respect and respect for others, we help make our school a place where everyone feels safe, welcome, and valued.
Relationships
At The Maelor School, we know strong relationships help everyone thrive.
As a high-performing community school, we celebrate the strength of working together. Our inclusive ethos ensures that pupils, parents, staff, and the wider community collaborate to support each other’s growth and success.
Resilience
At The Maelor School, we believe true success is built on resilience—the ability to persevere, adapt, and grow in the face of challenges.
We encourage our pupils to view setbacks as opportunities for learning, to keep striving when things are difficult, and to approach obstacles with courage and determination.
