Are you a calm, compassionate and proactive pastoral professional eager to make a real difference to students’ lives? Join Manor High School’s expanding Pastoral Team and play a central role in shaping the wellbeing, attendance and behaviour of a year group within a high‑performing, values‑driven school — led by experienced pastoral staff and offering excellent opportunities to grow and develop your career.

Manor High is an 11–16 academy on the edge of the City of Leicester serving Oadby and the surrounding villages. With around 950 students and 210 admitted each year, we are consistently high performing and proud of our culture of high expectations. Our vision is simple: Excellent People, Excellent Results, underpinned by the values of Excellence, Inspiration, Resilience and Respect.

If this interests you then join us at Manor High and help our students be their best selves — academically, socially and emotionally, while developing your pastoral career with outstanding colleagues and real scope for progression.

As an Assistant Pastoral Leader you will work alongside and be led by the Standards and Progress Leader for your year group to ensure high quality pastoral care for that year group. Some of the day‑to‑day responsibilities will include:

  • Acting as a first point of contact for parental enquiries and supporting reintegration and behaviour and attendance work
  • Supporting safeguarding processes, completing accurate records and following up on triaged issues
  • Leading on mental health and wellbeing support for students in your year group and working closely with our SEND and safeguarding teams
  • Managing daily attendance and punctuality follow‑up, and supporting targeted interventions to improve attendance
  • Working 1:1 with students who need additional support, investigating incidents, and supporting restorative approaches to behaviour

We are looking for someone who:

  • Builds positive, respectful relationships with students, parents and colleagues
  • Communicates clearly and confidently, both verbally and in writing
  • Has experience of working with young people (ideally pastorally, in a school or education setting) and supporting those with additional needs (SEND, behavioural or mental health)
  • Demonstrates sound knowledge of safeguarding and a commitment to promote the welfare of children
  • Is organised and accurate in record keeping and comfortable using school systems to manage data
  • Is resilient, positive and proactive — able to respond calmly in unplanned situations and support colleagues
  • Is committed to professional development and to supporting the school ethos of ‘Excellent People, Excellent Results’.

We welcome applicants who can demonstrate strong pastoral skills as well as a desire to learn and progress. You will be supported by experienced pastoral staff who will coach and develop you, with clear opportunities to take on greater responsibility and advance your career.

If you want to belong to a school that pursues excellence while putting students’ wellbeing at the heart of its work, Manor High is the place to be.

What we offer:

  • A friendly, supportive staff culture and a clear pastoral structure where your impact will be visible
  • Structured CPD and mentoring led by experienced pastoral leaders, and clear opportunities to grow and develop within the school
  • A range of staff benefits including free onsite parking, gym and lifestyle savings schemes, health and wellbeing support, eye test vouchers and more
  • The chance to contribute meaningfully to an ambitious school that values excellence, resilience and inclusion
