Headteacher’s Message

Welcome!

We are delighted to welcome you to Nutfield Church Primary School. This is a very special school which is rooted in six key Christian values: Community, Peace, Wisdom, Hope, Dignity and Joy. Each of these values are underpinned by Biblical theology.

Our school enjoys close links to our two churches, Christ Church in Nutfield and St Peter and St Paul also in Nutfield. Our ethos is one where all are welcome and where people from all races, religions and cultures act in peace together.

We are a Church School within the Diocese of Southwark which covers a wide geographical area and includes an extremely diverse population. Church of England schools are both distinctive and inclusive; this means that our school is distinctively Christian and is also open to and inclusive of people of other faiths, or no faith. You do not have to be a Christian to work in our school, however all staff members are expected to respect the school’s Christian ethos.

The school has a strong leadership team, rich curriculum, wonderfully energetic staff, extremely supportive parents and governors, an active PTFA, which offers some wonderful opportunities to become part of the community and some of the most wonderful children in the world.

We arrange regular tours of the school which you can arrange through the office: info@nutfield.surrey.sch.uk.

Miss Imogen Woods,
Headteacher

About Our School

Nutfield Church (C of E) Primary School was built in 1969 replacing the old buildings in top Nutfield and South Nutfield. We are a Voluntary Aided Church of England School in the Diocese of Southwark administered by Surrey Education Services within Surrey County Council.

Our school is a one form entry co-educational Primary School for children from ages 4 to 11, covering Reception Class (Foundation Stage) to Year 6 (end of Key Stage 2). We have around 207 children on roll, our maximum number on roll is 210. We have supportive parents and an active PTFA who raise considerable funds.

The grounds include Wildlife Area, Trinity Farm, living hedge, outdoor classroom and large playing fields. This plays an important part in our wellbeing curriculum which focuses on sustainability and outdoor learning. Our curriculum for wellbeing includes all classes, involving some classes in looking after some animals, involving others in taking whole responsibility for areas of gardens and outdoor space including our wildlife area. We have already introduced chickens, guinea pigs and our resident Peter Rabbit.

Vision & Values

How our values are reflected at school

At Nutfield Church Primary School, we value Community and Peace.

Our community is extremely special. We are all members of a distinctively Christian church school, set in an active community where the pupils are involved in supporting local and national charities. We encourage our pupils to think of others and begin to see their place in their local, national and global community. Our children are encouraged to think of others in their own ways and we support those pupils who have special interests in specific charities. We enjoy learning from one another and encouraging the pupils to think about their place in our community. At our school, children enjoy a peaceful environment where they are free to learn happily. The children are encouraged to learn to act peacefully and benefit from being in a calm, happy school.

We take great pride in helping our children become Peace Makers; to speak up for themselves and to reach out for others. We actively promote Peace, through our behavior expectations, School Council, Collective Worship and through all areas of the curriculum. Our priority for peace can be seen in our strong commitment to the highest standards of behavior and conduct for all. We pride ourselves in supporting our families hope that their children will be well adjusted, happy and helpful members of society.

At Nutfield Church Primary we value Wisdom and Hope.

We recognise the discipline of seeking Wisdom and support our children to understand the importance of this. Developing a deeper understanding of knowledge and truth are an important aspect of our school’s life. We aim to ensure that our children feel safe in all areas of their learning; our teachers plan for each individual very carefully. We encourage our children to think positively about their learning and to be well prepared for their future. Through carefully planned learning opportunities and parent support, we help our children to cope wisely with things and people going wrong and we encourage optimism about themselves in school and in their future plans. We are known for having strong relationships with our children and their families. We encourage our parents and carers to become involved in the wider life of the school.

At Nutfield Church Primary we value Dignity and Joy.

We recognise the human dignity and ultimate worth of each person within our school community and strive to ensure each individual can flourish. Our children love learning and our staff create lively and creative learning opportunities which encourage the children to be excited about their learning. We aim that our children and staff have a joyful experience at our school. At Nutfield Church Primary School, your child will experience a positive and loving environment. We are fortunate enough to have loving families and caring staff. Together we care for others both within and beyond our school community. It is widely acknowledged by staff that teaching and supporting our pupils in this special school is a joyful privilege and is one we believe should be enjoyed.
