Voluntary Position
Are you passionate about helping students reach their potential? We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed individual to become Chair of Governors for our secondary school within a successful Multi-Academy Trust.
As Chair, you will lead the Local Governing Body, working closely with the Headteacher and Trust leaders to support high standards of education, provide strategic oversight, and ensure effective governance. The Local Governing Body helps to ensure strong governance through a focus on Safeguarding, SEND, Standards and Stakeholder Engagement. As such, you don’t need to be an expert in education. We welcome people from all backgrounds who can bring different skills and perspectives to the role.
We are looking for someone who:
• Has strong leadership and communication skills.
• Can provide support and constructive challenge.
• Is passionate about improving outcomes for young people.
• Can work collaboratively with school and Trust leaders.
• Has experience of governance, leadership, management, or strategic decision-making (desirable but not essential).
The role includes:
• Chairing Local Governing Body meetings (co-Chairing with current Vice-Chair is also an option)
• Supporting and challenging school leadership to ensure school improvement and accountability.
• Acting as an ambassador for the school and wider community.
