Olchfa is a large and busy school, with productive relationships between pupils and staff. In all key stages, we achieve results which place the school amongst the leading education providers in Wales, both in raw and value-added terms. The school’s governing body, leadership team and teaching staff are never complacent; we know that we have to keep evolving what we do in order to meet the rapidly changing world around us and the needs of our pupils.
Of course, we are proud of our examination results, but school life is also about far more than that. There is an extremely wide range of extra-curricular activities at Olchfa with all main team games offered and regular success at County and International levels. There in an annual musical production involving large casts both front of house and on stage, giving pupils the opportunity to take part. The Duke of Edinburgh scheme is well established and popular at all levels with expeditions for Bronze, Silver and Gold being regular features of the school calendar. Many clubs and societies are available to pupils, both during and after school, and new staff are encouraged to contribute to this vital aspect of school life.

At Olchfa we believe and recognise that our staff are our most important resource and all are valued, supported and encouraged to develop personally and professionally within a caring, purposeful learning community.
We recognise that there is a direct correlation between the wellbeing of our staff and the wellbeing of our pupils, and that the culture and ethos of a school is determined by the extent to which staff work towards a shared vision.
We believe that it is essential that all staff feel valued as a team member, have the opportunity to express their views and are supported to manage their workload within a culture that supports a healthy work-life balance. We embrace the many school practises that support staff health and wellbeing, to minimise the harmful effects of stress and ensure that there is cohesion in working towards health and well-being for all staff. In this section of the website you will find information about some of the ways in which we commit to maintaining staff wellbeing.
