Design and Technology Technician

Pay Scale: Grade 10 £ 27,709 – £29,071 (£14,493 - £15,205 pro rata)
We are seeking an enthusiastic, organised, and proactive Design & Technology Technician to support our busy and successful DT department. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in helping students develop practical skills and bring creative ideas to life in a safe and engaging learning environment.
The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff to prepare materials, maintain equipment, and support the delivery of a broad range of Design & Technology lessons.
Key Responsibilities
• Prepare and organise materials, tools, and equipment for practical lessons.
• Maintain workshops, classrooms, and storage areas to a high standard.
• Support teaching staff during practical activities where required.
• Carry out routine maintenance and safety checks on machinery, tools, and equipment.
• Monitor and manage stock levels, placing orders as required.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and departmental policies.
• Assist with displays, exhibitions, and extracurricular activities within the department.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
• Has practical skills and experience working with tools, machinery, or workshop environments.
• Is highly organised with strong attention to detail.
• Understands the importance of health and safety procedures.
• Can work independently and as part of a team.
• Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Is flexible, reliable, and committed to supporting student learning.
Previous experience in a school environment or a technical/workshop setting would be advantageous, but training will be provided for the right candidate.
