Position: Teacher of Design & Technology (with the ability to teach Art)

Contract: Permanent, Full-Time

Pay Scale: MPS

Start Date: September 2026

Lyde Green Community School opens in September 2026, and we’re seeking an enthusiastic, talented DT teacher who can also teach Art to join our founding team.

This is a rare opportunity to create a brand-new department from scratch - shaping curriculum, building resources, setting routines and establishing a creative culture that will define DT at Lyde Green for years to come.

In the first year, the successful candidate will teach DT and Art and will also teach other subjects as needed to support a small founding timetable. As the school grows, your timetable will evolve and DT will develop into a fully established department.

For ambitious candidates, this role offers strong potential for leadership opportunities in the coming years as the school expands.

What you’ll do:

• Teach DT and Art as part of the founding curriculum offer

• Design and develop a new DT curriculum, resources and systems from the outset

• Establish a creative, inclusive classroom culture with high expectations and strong routines

• Contribute to the wider life of a founding school team, including flexibility to teach additional subjects

This role is for you if you:

• Love teaching DT and can also teach Art

• Want to build a department and shape curriculum in a new school

• Thrive in a fast-paced, start-up environment where teamwork and initiative matter

• Have high expectations, strong subject knowledge and a commitment to inclusion

• Are excited by future leadership opportunities

In return, we offer:

• A once-in-a-career opportunity to be part of a founding staff team

• Strong professional development and support through Olympus

• Clear opportunities to grow your career as Lyde Green expands

Please see the Applicant Pack and Job Description for full details.

To apply: Complete the application form and use the supporting statement to share your vision for DT at Lyde Green Community School and your role in delivering it.

Application Deadline: 9am on 20th April 2026

Interviews: 27th April 2026

Please note:

This post is advertised on the Main Pay Scale only in the first year due to the size of the school. As the school grows, staff will be able to progress to the Upper Pay Scale.
