Lyde Green Community School opens in September 2026. We are looking for a practical, organised and proactive Technician to support Science, DT, Art and Food as part of our founding team.

This is a key role in helping lessons run smoothly in our practical subjects. In the early years, the role will be varied and hands on, with everyone pitching in as we grow. You will help set up safe, well-resourced learning spaces, support staff with preparation and ordering, and build strong systems for stock, equipment maintenance and health and safety. As the school expands, responsibilities will develop into clearer areas of specialism.

This role could be one role or a job share.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare rooms and resources for Science, DT, Art and Food

• Maintain safe, tidy and well organised prep areas, workshops and specialist spaces

• Support health and safety routines, including risk awareness, safe storage and disposal processes

• Manage stock, ordering, deliveries and inventories

• Clean, maintain and store tools, equipment and materials, arranging servicing where needed

• Support practical activities in lessons where directed

• Help establish technician systems and routines as the school grows

We’re looking for someone who is:

• Practical, organised and able to prioritise in a busy environment

• Calm, reliable and able to work flexibly across different subjects

• Confident communicating with staff and learners

• Committed to safe working practices and learning new procedures

• Proactive and solutions focused

• Happy to work as part of a small founding team where responsibilities may change as we grow
