Welcome

Orchard Grove Primary School is one of the schools in the very successful and thriving Blackdown Education Partnership, working across Devon and Somerset.

Orchard Grove will welcome its first cohort of children into the superb EYFS setting in September 2023. The school will serve the new community in Comeytrowe and its immediate environs.

The school will centre itself firmly in the heart of its local community and support it by ensuring pupils have a clear sense of what makes a good citizen and a good neighbour. Pupils will have a strong sense of themselves in the local, national and global context and of the responsibility they have to others, in the present and in the future.

Orchard Grove will create an environment where children, staff and the community can cultivate a positive and progressive school culture around sustainability and education.

Within the setting of Somerset’s first net zero carbon school, children will be inspired by a unique curriculum that is preparing them for lifelong learning and a positive impact in the world.

About Us

Screenshot_2023-03-20_113907.jpg

Beginning school is always such an exciting time for children – an opportunity to discover new relationships and make friends; to explore new environments and find out more about themselves; to develop new passions, enhance skill sets and further deepen knowledge. As part of the Blackdown Education Partnership, we pride ourselves on the inclusiveness and friendliness of our schools and the close relationships between staff, children, parents and carers within our learning community. It is very much a family ethos that we foster and we believe that our schools should be an extension of that family, warm and welcoming, with the child firmly at the centre of everything we do.

The Trust’s ambition is that every child achieves his or her full potential, to feel that they belong and to participate in learning, enrichment and to be part of their community, whether that be local, national or even global.

We are deeply committed to Taunton as a community and the collaborative relationships we have with other organisations, schools and agencies enable us to offer your child the very best education possible. At Orchard Grove, we will develop our children’s thirst for learning through encouraging them to experiment, explore and play. We want this enthusiasm and energy to last throughout their school life, and for them to discover interests and passions that will enrich their whole lives. To do this, we have a curriculum that is broad, balanced, ambitious and experiential, with a particular emphasis on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (known as STEM subjects) as well as English, Humanities and the Creative Arts. We also want our children to lead healthy lifestyles and to make good choices for themselves so we offer a wide range of physical activities and experiences for all children.

Our expectation and ambition for every child is that they leave Orchard Grove with a rich experience of learning, with good physical health, with a strong mind and with the resilience to keep on trying and thinking for themselves so that they live a happy and successful life. Lifelong learning is something we will prioritise and develop throughout our Orchard Grove learning community.

Blackdown Education Partnership

The Blackdown Education Partnership is a multi-academy trust (MAT) working across Devon and Somerset. It was born of a merger between two established MATs: The Castle Partnership Trust and Uffculme Academy Trust and currently looks after a family of 12 schools: 6 primary and 6 secondary and 4 nurseries.

Blackdown Education Partnership is, therefore, a single organisation established to deliver the education and to safeguard the wellbeing of every child in our Trust. The Trust seeks to ensure that high quality collaboration and system leadership continue to improve the education in our schools. We are responsible for the good governance of the schools within our Trust and are accountable for the performance of each school. We work with an exceptional team of leaders, teachers and support staff whose combined efforts deliver on our promise to believe in every child.
