About Us

RGS is graded as an Outstanding School by Ofsted and we are one of the top performing state schools in Bristol. One of my key ambitions, now being put into practice by our leadership teams, is the development and enrichment of the curriculum, with a view to instilling yet further, a love of learning and ambition across all subjects and for all students whatever their starting points.

Importantly, our school is built on the key foundations and core values of:

Respect | Ambition | Responsibility

We aim for all of our students to feel safe, secure and supported throughout their journey with us, developing as confident, independent and resilient individuals both in their learning and in their willingness to embrace all of the opportunities that they will have access to over the coming years.

We are clear in our curriculum intent that our purpose is for students to develop a love of learning at Redland Green and to experience the excitement and wonder of the subjects they study, delivered by talented and experienced staff with a passion for their subjects and for developing our students knowledge and understanding.

Our staff and students are rightly proud of our school, its high standards, its values and its strong emphasis on developing the ‘whole child’. Our House and pastoral system is very important in developing the ‘spirit’ and ‘community’ of Redland Green. Guiding our young people to be able to make good decisions and demonstrate respect, understanding and tolerance is fundamental in our approach.

We also believe that we are developing future citizens and leaders and as such have plenty of opportunities for students to develop those skills and levels of responsibilities, whether becoming our student president, a prefect or house captain, sports captain or subject ambassador. We ensure there are many opportunities for our students to involve themselves in the wider leadership of our school community.

Ultimately though, we are ambitious for each individual student and want our students to truly enjoy their time at Redland Green School and to develop a love and understanding of learning which will enable them to successfully continue in their chosen future pathway.

Our Code of Conduct

FOR STAFF & STUDENTS

The Code of conduct is based on:

  • Respect
  • Ambition
  • Responsibility

Respect

  • To respect one another, the environment and your own and other people’s property, students and staff need to:
  • Listen carefully to each other, and to value other people’s opinion even when it is different from their own.
  • Think about other people’s needs not just their own; remember that everybody is a valued member of the Redland Green community.
  • Not misuse the Internet and other communication technologies (eg email, social-networking, chat rooms, texting).

Ambition

To be confident with who you are and in what you can achieve:

  • Make sure you have a positive attitude towards your learning.
  • Believe that you can achieve and that you can do well.

Responsibility

  • To take a responsible attitude towards your own and others’ learning, students and staff need to:
  • Arrive on time to school and to each lesson ready to learn / teach.
  • Settle quickly and try to produce their best work at all times. If you do not understand something - ask!
  • Follow the five fundamentals of classroom expectations.
  • Use the ICT resources solely for work during lessons or school related activities.

To take pride in your appearance and your work, students need to:

  • Take a pride in their uniform and PE kit.
  • Keep their books in good condition and present their work carefully; their work should be something they are proud to show others.

To meet deadlines:
