For 16-19 year olds we offer a wide range of Level 3 A Level and Vocational Courses and a Level 2 Pathway into Further Education. The Trust has a clear vision to provide exceptional education and training through the delivery of a holistic and vocational curriculum. With the very rare benefit of having a Sixth Form College within the Trust, Richard Huish is uniquely placed to facilitate young people’s progression throughout their early years and school career and beyond into further or higher education, training and employment.

The Trust aims to nurture the individuality of its member academies, identifying the areas of strength and distinctive features of the local community to promote sustainable improvement.

The Richard Huish Multi Academy Trust (MAT) model enables a school the potential to retain its unique characteristics by offering Headteachers a high degree of autonomy in the work of leading their schools, with the freedom to focus on teaching and learning whilst being supported by the Central Trust Team.

Richard Huish College was originally formed in the 18th century. It was named after benefactor Richard Huish, a Taunton wool merchant who made his fortune in London. His will, when he died in 1615, provided the main part of the endowment for an educational foundation to be established which eventually grew into Huish’s Grammar School for Boys. This foundation also established Bishop Fox’s School for Girls, in Taunton.

The old Grammar School was erected in 1892 at the back of Grays Alms House, East Street, which is now Sainsburys car park. It was demolished in 1972. The new school was built at South Road, where it is today. The Headmaster in 1900 was R. Humphrey.
