We have two exciting new vacancies for Family Support Workers at either Rowanfield Infant and Junior School or Springbank Primary Academy. The successful postholder(s) will be responsible for working with the school (and external agencies) to provide additional support to families struggling with the current cost of living crisis to ensure families have the items and access to services they need to ensure children are warm, well-fed, clean and healthy.
You will coordinate the set up and delivery a food, hygiene and uniform bank on the school site as well as liaise with the schools to identify families that need extra support. You will create opportunities for the parents and pupils to interact with the school and access the services provided in a warm, welcoming and non-judgemental way through coffee mornings and year group events. You will create trusting relationships where parents feel supported and not embarrassed to access the advice/services given. You will liaise with external agencies to access facilities to help these families.
This is an excellent opportunity for a someone with good communication skills to enter into the school environment whilst some knowledge of school life is preferred it is not essential. The successful candidate will be a strong communicator who has excellent interpersonal skills, creating warm and trusting relationships. You will need to be innovative and creative in order to overcome any social embarrassment attached to the use of the service. You will need to be highly organised and able to problem solve effectively.
