Saxon Primary is a two-form entry primary school with Nursery. We are a friendly community school, small enough to ensure that everyone knows each other but big enough to be able to offer children a wide range of different opportunities.

Our brand new Nursery is an integral part of the wider Saxon family, working alongside our Reception year group and supporting children in taking their first steps towards being school-ready. Taking children from 2 years old we offer a wealth of opportunities to learn as they play whilst following the Early Years Foundation Stage framework in an engaging, creative, friendly and encouraging environment.

Saxon is approximately 10 minutes' walk away from Shepperton High Street, set in a quiet residential area in Briar Road. We work hard to ensure a high pupil-adult ratio, believing children work best in smaller groups supported by carefully trained adults. In this way we are able to ensure the needs of all children across the ability range are met much more effectively.

Set on a large site with four playgrounds, a trim trail, a 5-acre playing field and its own swimming pool, we are a feeder school for Thamesmead Secondary where the great majority of our children move onto after Year 6. Consequently we enjoy close links with this school and strive to make sure the transition out of Saxon is as smooth as possible.

In June 2013, as a result of the strength of our provision and leadership, we were designated by the Department for Education as a sponsor school and in September 2013 accredited by the National College for Teaching & Leadership as a National Support School. These accreditations enable us to formally support other schools in our local area and we work closely with The Echelford Primary in Ashford, Riverbridge Primary in Staines upon Thames, Walton Oak Primary in Walton upon Thames, Darley Dene in Addlestone and Ewell Grove Primary School in Epsom.

Our teaching team benefits from the strengths and skill set from our colleagues across all Lumen schools with the addition of Leadership Consultants centrally appointed by the Trust itself. We have accredited Specialist Leaders of Education on our teaching team and our Executive Principal, Mary Ellen McCarthy carries out extensive support for school leadership teams in Surrey schools and beyond. She is also a serving Ofsted inspector.
