St Benedict’s is a welcoming community where tradition and innovation go hand in hand. Grounded in our Benedictine heritage, we embrace the future with openness, creativity, and a spirit of possibility. Our students thrive within a caring and happy environment, benefiting from a seamless education that begins at age 3 and continues through to the Sixth Form.
We place great value on strong academic standards and outstanding personal development. At St Benedict’s, every child is encouraged to discover their strengths and develop their full potential. Rooted in the Benedictine tradition, we nurture the spiritual growth of our students, encouraging them to seek meaning, show kindness, and live with integrity. Our approach to education is shaped by values of love, hospitality, and respect for each individual.
“St Benedict’s has always understood that education is about enriching lives. Like every excellent school, we enable boys and girls to achieve outstanding academic success, to discern their chosen career path and to gain access to top universities. St Benedict’s stands out because it goes well beyond this, by helping children to grow as people, socially, emotionally and spiritually. Here, they are valued as individuals and therefore think as individuals; they discover their unique talents and interests, and develop personal qualities such as resilience, resourcefulness, empathy and imagination. They learn what they have to offer the world and attain the confidence to show principled leadership.
The qualities of a holistic education - breadth, inspiration and challenge - have never been more important than they are now. I do hope you will come and visit us, to find out more about what we can offer your son or daughter.”
Joe Smith – Headmaster
St Benedict’s provides a well-rounded, seamless Benedictine education which can begin in our Nursery and continue to the end of Sixth Form. The School is committed to supporting all children to develop their full potential, by treating them as individuals, and catering for their particular needs and talents at every stage. Inspirational teaching, tutorial guidance and exceptional pastoral care are at the heart of the education we offer.
We have a proud academic record of outstanding examination results and our pupils gain places at the UK’s top universities. In addition to academic success, St Benedict’s recognises the importance of educating the whole person, by encouraging principled leadership, resilience and character in our pupils, and by promoting the Christian values of integrity, fairness and generosity. This holistic approach to education is a hallmark of the School, informed by the 1500 year-old Rule of St Benedict, and there could be no better way of equipping young people for the future.
At St Benedict’s, there is a vital focus on personal development, through our outstanding co-curricular programme. St Benedict’s has a distinguished sporting tradition: while many boys and girls train and compete at county and national level, everyone is encouraged to enjoy sport, teamwork and fitness. Music and Drama are both excellent; there is a strong choral tradition, many instrumental ensembles and frequent concerts demonstrating very high levels of musicianship. Termly drama productions have recently included Amadeus, Les Misérables and A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
Our Benedictine heritage shapes the way we live and learn together. We value reflection, kindness, and hospitality, encouraging students to think deeply, act generously, and contribute positively to our community. These values guide daily life at St Benedict’s and help every young person to grow in confidence and integrity.
The Junior School and Nursery provide a supportive and vibrant environment in which to learn. Sharing excellent facilities with the Senior School, and a carefully planned induction programme, helps to ease the transition at 11+ to the Senior School, which is on the same site.
Recent developments include an impressive new Sixth Form Centre and Art Department. A new Nursery and Pre-Prep Department, providing our youngest pupils with a first-rate learning environment.
