St James is a happy, caring and friendly community school of 420 children aged 4 - 11 years old.
Our Christian ethos, nurturing environment and emphasis on values, including fundamental British Values (democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs) ensure that all members of the school community respect and support one another.
We are proud of the good reputation we have in the heart of a bustling community.
We are proud of our good academic reputation which is enhanced through a broad curriculum built upon first-hand learning experiences.
Our buildings and grounds provide excellent places for children to learn and grow into responsible citizens. Every opportunity is taken to bring life into the classroom or to take the classroom out into the wider world – be it on our doorstep or further afield. Day trips and residential visits provide experiences and moments that will live forever.
Throughout the year, special events, themed days and weeks further enliven our curriculum. Each child participates in our class assemblies and has the opportunity to take part in special productions which showcase abilities in music and the performing arts.
The importance of leading a healthy and active lifestyle is promoted, not least through the range of extra-curricular activities and after school clubs that are available – football, netball, athletics and gymnastics – to name but a few. In addition we offer other clubs such as French and Spanish, as well as an excellent choir.
