Welcome

Welcome to St Mary and St Chad CE First School

We are a happy and friendly Church school, with lots going on.

St. Mary and St Chad CE First School is in the centre of the beautiful village of Brewood in South Staffordshire. It caters for children aged 3 to 9 years old. We have close links with Brewood Church which is across the road from our school and Brewood Middle School which most of our children move to in Year 5. In our SIAMS inspection (Sept 2023) it said 'Relationships are rooted in the school’s Christian values of friendship, peace, thankfulness, respect, courage and hope. As a result of a deep understanding of these, pupils’ behaviour is exemplary. This leads to a culture of acceptance which permeates school life, creating a calm and purposeful atmosphere for learning'.

We have an Early Years Unit comprising of a Governor run Nursery and Reception class who use an outside play area. There are four other spacious classrooms, a hall, library area, kitchen area for the children to use, creative area and additional learning spaces. The playground also has a Multi Use Games Area (MUGA), an adventure play area and traversing wall. The School Council and Eco-Committees work actively on developments in the school . We have 145 children on roll and we are part of a Penk Valley Multi Academy Trust which comprises of local schools who work together to provide a sound educational journey from 2 years to 18 years.

Vision and values

Aim High Believe, Fly High Achieve

ourschoolpic.jpg

As a church school, St Mary and St Chad CE First School has a Christian ethos, this is reflected in the experience every child and adult working within the school has. Daily morning worship is held, and this provides an important means of reinforcing the Christian values of the school. Close links are also enjoyed with local churches where the school’s progress is followed with interest by the Church members. The children visit St Mary and St Chad Church for services during the year.

The aims of the school go beyond the undoubted importance of high academic achievement within the child’s capabilities, and job satisfaction of each adult. Children and adults alike are encouraged to value, respect and care for each person as an individual and the contribution that they make to the life of the school.

Therefore our Vision and Values are as follows. The visual logo helps us all to remember our vision.

Our Vision is -

Hand and hand we work together to provide a happy, nurturing and safe environment where every child is inspired to love learning, flourish and reach their God given potential.

To support this vision and motto we have the bible reading –

Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Isaiah 40:31

Our school values are: Friendship, thankfulness, courage, respect, peace and hope
