Unqualified Teacher – SEARCh Inclusion Base & Evergreen ASD Unit

Full Time | Permanent

Salary: Surrey Unqualified Teacher Pay Scale (dependent on experience)

Start Date: September 2026

St Paul’s CofE Primary School & Nursery is seeking an exceptional Unqualified Teacher to join our specialist provision team. This is a unique opportunity to work within our SEARCh Inclusion Base and Evergreen ASD Unit, supporting our children to succeed both academically and emotionally.

This is not a traditional classroom teaching role. The successful candidate will primarily teach children individually and also in small groups, delivering highly personalised learning programmes tailored to children's academic, social, emotional and communication needs. There will also be opportunities to teach larger groups and whole classes within our specialist provisions when appropriate.

St Paul’s is a growing and ambitious school with a deeply inclusive approach. Over recent years, the school has expanded from an infant school into primary phase education, opened an 80-place nursery, established our Evergreen ASD Unit and developed our SEARCh Inclusion Base. We firmly believe that every child deserves to belong and can succeed with the right support.

At St Paul’s, Learning in God’s Love is at the heart of everything we do. Our vision and values of Courage, Compassion and Community shape a school where children are known, valued and supported to flourish. Inclusion, relationships and belonging sit at the centre of everything we do.

Many of the children within our provisions have ASD, ADHD, SEMH needs, communication and interaction difficulties, or significant barriers to learning. Some children can experience extreme emotional dysregulation, anxiety, distress or behaviours that challenge. The successful candidate will need to remain calm, compassionate and consistent, helping children to feel safe, understood and ready to learn, even during periods of heightened emotion or crisis.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with children with SEND, SEMH, ASD and/or ADHD.
  • Can build strong, trusting relationships with children who may find school challenging.
  • Understands that behaviour is communication.
  • Can confidently plan and deliver learning for individuals, small groups and, where required, larger groups of children.
  • Can support children through periods of dysregulation, distress and heightened emotions.
  • Is calm, patient and resilient under pressure.
  • Has high expectations whilst maintaining warmth and compassion.
  • Is committed to inclusion and ensuring every child feels they belong.
  • Works well as part of a multi-disciplinary and supportive team.
  • Is reflective, flexible and willing to learn.

The role will include:

  • Teaching children individually and in small groups.
  • Occasionally teaching larger groups or whole classes within the specialist provisions.
  • Delivering personalised learning programmes and targeted interventions.
  • Supporting children with emotional regulation, social development and readiness to learn.
  • Working with children who may present with anxiety, dysregulation and behaviours that challenge.
  • Working closely with teachers, SEND staff, therapists and families.
  • Contributing to EHCP outcomes and personalised provision plans.
  • Supporting successful integration into mainstream lessons and wider school life where appropriate.

In return, we offer:

  • A genuinely supportive and caring team.
  • Extensive training and professional development.
  • A coaching-based approach to support and growth.
  • Opportunities to work alongside experienced SEND and inclusion professionals.
  • A school where relationships, wellbeing and belonging are prioritised.
  • The opportunity to make a life-changing difference to children and families.
  • The chance to help shape and develop our growing specialist provisions.

Visits to the school are warmly welcomed and encouraged.

We reserve the right to shortlist and appoint before the closing date should a suitable candidate be identified. Early applications are therefore strongly encouraged.

St Paul’s CofE Primary School & Nursery is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All appointments are subject to satisfactory references, online checks and enhanced DBS clearance.
