At Sir William Perkins’s School, students are at our heart. We expect the best from them and in return they can expect the best from us – both in terms of teaching of the highest quality, and in receiving the tailored support and attention they need to achieve.

We know our students, their talents, hopes and aspirations; and in turn we seek staff who actively encourage our students to explore their interests and achieve their potential in an innovative and inspiring atmosphere.

Founded in 1725, we are a warm and friendly independent girls’ school for 600 students aged 11-18. Set in 13 acres of attractive green-belt grounds in Surrey, SWPS is a beautiful environment with first-rate facilities, in which both staff and students flourish.

Easily reached by road or public transport, we are a two-minute walk from Chertsey Train Station, with direct links to London Waterloo and surrounding towns.

Expectations of staff are high but equally, personal workloads are carefully considered by the Senior Leadership Team. There are plenty of opportunities for professional development and a generous inset budget. All staff are equally valued for their part in the overall success of the school and there is a strong sense of fun and humour.

The Power of Potential

YEAR_ELEVEN_4063-Grade_1_(1).jpg

We challenge each student to explore their potential through academic aspiration and active participation. We teach our students to expect Great Things of themselves, because we know every individual is capable of Great Things.

Academic success is always our priority, but education should be about far more than achieving top grades. We believe in educating the whole person and equipping our students with the confidence to make their mark on the world.

We encourage students to become involved in the many co-curricular activities on offer. Taking every opportunity to develop their interests and creativity, their interpersonal, teamwork and leadership skills, to be forward-thinking and to reach into the wider community.

A SWPS student is:

• Generous with their thoughts, their gifts and their time.

• Curious about their world and their future.

• Ambitious for themselves and for others.

SWPS Digital Strategy

At SWPS our vision is for our students to be confident users of digital technology, equipped with the skills, integrity and confidence to excel in their education whilst preparing for their future careers.

Digital Aims (Teaching and Learning)…

• To use technology to enhance current good practice and to drive forward teaching and learning at SWPS.

• To strive continually to provide our students with the best possible access to learning.

• To offer our students access to a variety of learning styles.

• To encourage independent learning and equip our students for adult life.

• To have a positive impact on teacher workload and wellbeing.

We believe…

• Learning does not stop as soon as you walk out of the school gate, it can take place anywhere at any time!

• Everyone at SWPS should be connected digitally to communicate, share and engage in learning (students, teachers and parents).

The concept…

• To ensure that every student has access to an Apple iPad both in school and at home.

• Students bring the device to school every day and expect to use it for learning in and between lessons every day, anywhere in school.
