An exciting opportunity has become available for an Administration Assistant to join the team at Glen Hills Primary School.

We are looking for someone who is organised, friendly and enjoys working with people. The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting the day to day running of our busy school office and helping to create a positive experience for pupils, parents, staff and visitors.

No two days are the same in a primary school office, so we're looking for someone who can remain calm under pressure, manage a varied workload and work well as part of a team.

The role will include:

  • Providing general administrative support, including photocopying, filing, emailing and processing paperwork.
  • Maintaining accurate pupil and school records using computerised systems.
  • Answering telephone calls and responding to enquiries from parents, visitors and staff.
  • Welcoming visitors to the school and ensuring safeguarding and visitor procedures are followed.
  • Opening, sorting and distributing incoming post and preparing outgoing mail.
  • Supporting attendance and other school administration processes.
  • Acting as a first point of contact for pupils who are unwell and liaising with parents and carers when needed.
  • Supporting the ordering and storage of school supplies.
  • Assisting with first aid and pupil welfare duties following appropriate training.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has strong administration and organisational skills.
  • Communicates well with both children and adults.
  • Has a good standard of literacy and numeracy.
  • Pays attention to detail and takes pride in their work.
  • Can manage and prioritise a busy workload.
  • Is flexible, proactive and willing to learn.
  • Works well as part of a team whilst also being able to use their own initiative.
  • Has good ICT skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Office 365.

Previous experience of working in a school office would be an advantage, but we would also welcome applications from candidates with relevant administration experience gained in other busy office environments. Experience of SIMS would be helpful, although training can be provided.
