Thornton Primary School is looking to appoint a class teacher from Thursday 20th August 2026. Candidates are encouraged to apply, indicating their strengths in EYFS.

Thornton Primary is a good school (Ofsted January 2023) with 129 pupils on roll. We pride ourselves on our friendly and welcoming environment, where as a small village school, we know each pupil as an individual. We are an ambitious and forward thinking school with an extremely dedicated and caring staff team with a strong team ethic.

We are looking for a teacher who:

  • Is highly motivated and talented and who will help continue our drive for excellence in pupil outcomes,
  • Has high expectations and aspirations for all learners in the class,
  • Is highly skilled in delivering the EYFS curriculum but especially teaching the core subjects,
  • Is up to date with current research around Quality First Teaching and Early Years practice and pedagogy (Reception),
  • Is knowledgeable and has the skills to meet the requirements of the EYFS framework including a good understanding of Early Reading,
  • Is an inspiration to children,
  • Is committed to supporting the aspirational vision shared by the whole school,
  • Is full of personality and humour,
  • Is an excellent team player with superb interpersonal skills; willing to go the extra mile.
