Join us as a School Governor (co-opted). Communication and engagement focus.

Are you interested in making a difference in education and your local community?

We are looking for committed individuals to join our school governing board as a co-opted School Governor. The focus of this role is communication and engagement therefore an interest or background in communications, marketing, PR, or engagement would be advantageous.

What does the role involve?

As a School Governor, you will be part of a committed team providing strategic oversight, accountability, and support to the school.

Alongside the core responsibilities of a governor, this role will work closely with the Headteacher to support communications and engagement activity across the school. Key contributions may include:

  • Supporting the development and analysis of surveys (e.g. parent & student)
  • Collaborating on school communications, including key messages and engagement approaches
  • Supporting funding and grant applications
  • Working alongside the Headteacher to develop ideas that strengthen community engagement
  • Contributing skills and experience to relevant projects or working groups

You don't need to be an education professional or have governor experience.

Safeguarding Statement:

This post is eligible for a DBS check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (i.e. it involves certain activities in relation to children and/or adults) and is defined as regulated activity under Part 1 of the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006 before the coming into force of section 64 of the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012 on 10th September 2012.
