Headteacher's Welcome

Our vision is that children at TDMS will be happy, safe, healthy and successful. We believe that every child has unique and individual qualities and needs to feel valued, encouraged and challenged, building their self-belief and leading to their achievement. We take great pride in our ability to form strong relationships with students and families. It is only when we all work together that we will get the best out of every child.

We put great importance on the development of the whole child, academic qualifications are essential to us, but we also believe supporting students to develop a wide range of skills to enable them to be valued citizens of the future. At TDMS, we feel that the educational journey is as important as the final destination.

We are an inclusive family school and welcome children of all abilities. We, therefore, pride ourselves on our ability to nurture and develop all our children. We recognise that many learners need extra support and guidance. Our provision of special and additional educational needs is excellent.

About Us

Visit TDMS and you’ll immediately see the genuine sense of pride and the high aspirations shared by our students and staff. They, together with our parents, governors and local businesses ‘go that extra mile’ in supporting and challenging each other to fulfil our tremendous potential and become the outstanding school our community deserves. We offer a unique, all-through 10-18 education, with formal admission in Year 6, Year 9 and the Sixth Form. Our very strong relationships with local First, Middle and High Schools, ensures that new students have the smoothest possible transition to our school and we provide the range of qualifications and opportunities our learners need to develop the skills to be successful at top universities, employment and adult life. Ofsted commended our inclusion policies and we expect outstanding behaviour and attitudes towards learning from all of our students. We adopt a zero tolerance policy towards any poor behaviour which could adversely affect the majority who wish to learn and achieve their best and insist upon full support from our parents in the understanding that no parent wants their child’s learning to be held back by others. Some leaners need that extra support and guidance and our provision of additional educational needs is excellent, whilst our comprehensive Gifted and Talented Programme ensures our most able students are challenged to achieve their full potential. Every student, however, has their own unique and individual qualities and we pride ourselves on our ability to nurture and develop all of our students, whatever their ability. Our first class facilities include a large gym, a full size astro turf and state of the art performing arts facilities also providing for our local community. Effort, teamwork and the development of leadership skills are critical to lifetime success and your child will have exceptional opportunities to develop these skills and the self-confidence and determination to always try their best. Only by working together can we ensure that your child fulfils their potential both personally and academically, so in addition to our Open Evenings, we fundamentally believe in an open door policy and welcome visits. Our students are proud of their school and our well-qualified, committed and caring staff are determined to unlock your child’s potential. But, don’t take my word for it, come and see us in action!
